Enhanced sedation or respiratory and CV depression with drugs with CNS depressant properties e.g., antidepressants, antihistamines, antipsychotics, general anaesthetics, other hypnotics or sedatives, opioid analgesics and cisapride. Calcium-channel blockers; clonidine; diazoxide; disulfiram; clozapine; diuretics; moxonidine; nabitone; nitrates; cimetidine, esomeprazole and omeprazole; muscle relaxants; dopaminergics; lofexidine; hydralazine, minoxidil and nitroprusside; antifungals; angiotensin II receptor antagonist; antiepileptics; ß-blockers; antibacterials. Alcohol. Itraconazole and fluvoxamine slow down the rate of elimination of etizolam leading to accumulation of etizolam and thus increased pharmacological effects. Carbamazepine speeds up the metabolism of etizolam resulting in reduced pharmacological effects of etizolam.
