This condition is due to inflammation of the air passages in the lungs and affects the sensitivity of the nerve endings in the airways so they become easily irritated. In an attack, the lining of the passages swell causing the airways to narrow and reducing the flow of air in and out of the lungs. Classification of drugs 1. Bronchodialators A. Concurrent use with ACE inhibitors, potassium-sparing diuretics, potassium salts, and drugs that may increase serum potassium (e.g. ciclosporin, eplerenone) may increase the risk of hyperkalaemia. Concomitant use with NSAIDs may decrease glomerular filtration synergistically; acute renal failure may occur. Increased serum concentrations of lithium and toxicity when used with angiotensin receptor antagonist have been reported; avoid concomitant use of lithium and Olmesartan.
